Brian Hewson : ウィキペディア英語版 | Brian Hewson
Brian Stanford Hewson (born 4 April 1933 in Croydon, Surrey) is a retired track and field athlete, who represented Great Britain at two consecutive Summer Olympics (1956) in the men's 1500 metres and (1960) in the men's 800 metres. He won the gold medal in the men's 1500 metres at the 1958 European Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. Hewson was one of the first men to run a four-minute mile, clocking 3:59.8 at the White City Stadium in London on 28 May 1955. As he placed third to László Tábori and Chris Chataway, he became the first to run a mile in less than four minutes and not finish in the top two; before that race, only Roger Bannister and John Landy had run a four-minute mile. ==References==
